Cathryn Grace (McGath) Kissler
June 10, 1947 –Feb. 20, 2023
Cathryn Grace (McGath) Kissler died in Portland, Ore. on Feb. 20, 2023 of complications related to Alzheimer's disease. She died peacefully, without fear, surrounded by her loving family and wonderful caregivers.
Born on June 10, 1947, Cathy was raised in Davenport, Wash. and married her high school sweetheart in 1965. They raised their three daughters in Santa Monica, Calif. and later lived in Eugene, Ore., and Moraga, Calif., before retiring in Portland.
Cathy was a registered dental assistant and worked in both dentistry and orthodontics. She was an avid reader and member of book clubs. She enjoyed traveling to other countries and celebrated her 66th birthday with lunch in the Eiffel Tower.
Cathy was warm, kind, compassionate, intuitive, and empathetic. She was a loving, supportive wife and mother, and a good friend to many; always considerate of others and there for us in times of need. She had a special gift for touching peoples' hearts and bringing out the best in them. She supported several charities, including volunteer work at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, but was particularly passionate about issues of domestic and sexual violence because two close friends have been tragic victims.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Jerry, three daughters and their husbands, Cheryl (Scott) Trowbridge, Lynn (Terri) and Jeff Jobe, and Amy (Darrel) Honigberg, two granddaughters, Kaylin and Riley Trowbridge, and two brothers, Curt and Jay McGath.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on July 9, 2023 at the Reserve Vineyards and Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations in her memory to Clackamas Women's Services. https://www.cwsor.org/
