Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
WENATCHEE - The Reardan FFA trap team took home a third-place finish at the state competition Saturday, April 22. The five-member team of juniors Lance Relyea, Kassidy Koch and Aidan Chillson and freshmen Tyler Balance and Levi Collier only finished behind two Freeman squads and beat 36 other teams at the competition.
Balance was the top marksman with a score of 89 to finish in the top 10 individually. Students shot at 50 targets from 16 yards away and 50 targets from 22 yards away.
"These kids are dang good shooters," advisor Eric Nikkola said. "Our kids had a tremendous day. I was hoping for a top 10 finish, maybe top five. They performed when they needed to and were peaking when it mattered."
The trap team wasn't the only Reardan FFA group to get a third-place finish at state competition. The Environmental Natural Resources team of Collier, Hunter and Blake Wynecoop, Brody Jones and Colton Lonning took third April 17 in Cashmere.
The team was advised by Rick Perleberg and took parts in competitions like water quality testing, testing soil texture and GPS navigation skill.
