Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
DAVENPORT - It's typical for a high school sports team to hold an end-of-year awards banquet, but this year's banquet carried unique circumstances for the Davenport boys basketball team: a celebration of the program's first 2B state title.
The local Lions Club stepped up to help celebrate the title, providing a burger and chips dinner to the dozens of attendees. The boys signed autographs for anyone with an item to sign, including basketballs, hats, programs and even a student's belly.
The state championship victory over Brewster was televised on a projector while attendees ate dinner. Athletic director Tim Rasmussen, head coach Matt Henry and assistant coach Monty Soliday then recognized the varsity, junior varsity and C-squad players and coaches with trophies, words of affirmation and individual awards.
