REARDAN-The Screaming Eagles softball team lost both ends of a rainy doubleheader to Asotin 23-3 and 18-6 on Senior Day Tuesday, May 9.
In the first game, Reardan pitchers gave up 13 walks and 10 hits which allowed Asotin to jump to a 16-0 lead after two innings. Because of the "Mercy Rule" the game ended after four innings with the Panthers ahead 23-3.
Reardan did not get a hit in the game.
Asotin continued to tattoo the ball in the second game. Five players collected three hits each, one of which sailed over the outfield fence for a home run. Asotin had 19 hits en route to its 18-6 win.
Colleen Ellis hit a triple for Reardan, Kaylynn Clouse hit a double, and Myleigh Benham and Olivia Wicks each got on base with singles.
Reardan's roster is composed mostly of eighth graders.
"This year we are loaded with a group of positive respectful kids," Reardan head coach Olivia Byers said. "I expect great things from them in the future."

With the loss, Reardan dropped to 2-14. Asotin improved its record to 10-11.
A rivalry district pigtail softball game is on tap. Reardan and Davenport will square off in a loser-out, winner-to-districts game in Medical Lake at 4 p.m. Monday, May 15.
