Boys miss the cut for second round play
Odessa's Melloney Deife took third place at the 1B/2B girls state golf tournament in Tumwater this week.
TUMWATER - Odessa's Melloney Deife earned a Top 5 finish at the 1B/2B state tournament at Tumwater Valley Golf Club Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24. Deife took third amongst girls to easily have the best finish of any local competitors.
Deife's first round score of 83 and second round score of 168 earned the bronze finish.
Makenna Kelpman of Sound Christian won state, while Chase Caruso of Pomeroy took second.
Deife was the lone golfer from Lincoln County to make the cut for the second day. On the boys side, Odessa's Chad Strebeck (89), Davenport's Maddox Schumacher (93) and Odessa's Jacob Scrupps (97) missed the cut of 88 to advance to a second round.
