Lincoln County man arrested, charged with killing baby

Police believe incident occurred outside Reardan

REARDAN—A Lincoln County man was arrested on a second-degree murder charge believed by police to be related to the death of a 5-month-old child Monday, June 26.

Jordan Russell Mills-Jay, 29, was arrested by Spokane police on the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office’s probable cause for arrest, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, medical staff at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane informed the Sheriff’s Office of suspicious injuries on a 5-month-old child who had been airlifted to the hospital from a home police believe is outside Reardan town limits Monday, June 5.

The baby died at the hospital Wednesday, June 21, officials said.

Autopsy reports are still pending, but injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome, authorities said.

Mills-Jay was booked into Lincoln County Jail on Monday night and the case remains an active investigation, officials said.

This is a developing story. Updates will be given when available.
