Long Lake Dam picnic area closes for two months

TUMTUM — The Long Lake Dam picnic area closed for renovations Friday, June 16.

The Avista-operated recreational area is expected to be shut down until the end of August, the utilities company said in a press release.

“Avista, in coordination with the Washington State Park Recreation Commission (WA State Parks), will replace the 1950s era playground equipment with new play features, interpretive signage and a trail,” the release said. “During this time, the Long Lake Dam Road will remain open and fishing access is available upstream of the construction site.”

Long Lake Dam is located on the Spokane River between Lincoln and Stevens Counties 14 miles north of Reardan town limits.
