SPOKANE—A young Davenport man was killed after colliding with a semitruck while bicycling on State Highway 206 Thursday, July 20.

19-year-old Kenneth S. Brandenburg was pronounced deceased at the scene after crashing into a white 2019 Peterbilt truck driven by Jonathan M. Fron of Spokane Valley near North Newport Highway, State Highway 206 and North Market Street, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.

According to the release, Brandenburg crashed into the truck on its passenger side while bicycling westbound on State Highway 206 after the truck turned right onto State Highway 206 from a private lot.

Uninjured, Fron continued driving the truck and returned to the scene later, according to the release.

The official cause of the crash, which occurred three miles north of Spokane city limits, remains under investigation.

Brandenburg, the son of Renee Casch, was a 2023 graduate of Davenport's Pathways program and had moved to Mead in recent months. He spent time working at Trader's Express in Davenport and enjoyed photography and gaming, according to a family friend.

This is a developing story. More details will be shared when available.
