Multiple fires near Sprague

SPRAGUE - Southeastern Lincoln County fire crews were busy in the last week.

The largest fire that needed local tending was the Fishtrap fire, which ignited around milepost 256 of Interstate 90 and burned approximately 520 acres while moving north into Spokane County before crews contained the blaze Monday, July 17, according to a release from Spokane County Fire District No. 3.

Crews from Sprague and Edwall assisted Spokane County in firefighting efforts.

Meanwhile, Odessa fire crews assisted Adams County with a field fire at Heinemann Road near the Jantz elevator, according to scanner traffic.

Late last week, Sprague fire crews quickly snuffed a blaze near State Highway 23 and Schirr Road, while also helping Whitman County firefighting efforts of a large fire near Rock Lake.
