Heat wave hits Lincoln County

ODESSA – An excessive heat warning was expected to expire at 11 p.m. Thursday night, Aug. 17, after several days of 100-plus degree temperatures.

Meanwhile, a fire weather watch came and went overnight Wednesday and early Thursday.

No records were set during this week’s heat wave.

In Odessa, the temperature reached 103 degrees on both Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast was for 103 degrees again on Thursday.

The newspaper went to press before the heat of the day.

Davenport’s high for the week was 101 degrees Tuesday, which declined slightly to 100 degrees Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The high for Thursday was expected to top out at 100 degrees Thursday before dropping to the upper-80s or low-90s Friday.
