Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
GRAND COULEE –Locals are invited to join Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area for a free, family friendly fishing festival Saturday Sept. 9.
Lake Roosevelt has partnered with other federal, state, and non-profit agencies sharing the same goal to teach local youth fishing skills and provide education about water safety, aquatic invasive species, and more.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spring Canyon, about two miles east of Grand Coulee off State Highway 174.
The first 300 youth ages 14 and under will receive a free fishing pole, and tackle. Youth will be able to fish with a Ranger from shore and can choose to keep any fish that they catch within state and federal regulations.
Additional information can be found the Lake Roosevelt NPS Facebook page or Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area website under events at http://www.nps.gov/laro.
The Park Service is looking for volunteers to help put this event on. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to laro_education@nps.gov.
This project/program was made possible in part by a grant from the National Park Foundation.
