Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
ODESSA — Deanna Lobe, a lifelong resident, was named Biergarten Chairman for the 52nd Deutschesfest scheduled for Sept. 14-17. She has volunteered at Fest since graduating from high school in 1996, most recently in the sausage booth and as a server in the
Biergarten.
Over the past two years, Lobe has been the Service Manager at Wheatland Bank. Prior to that, she worked for 23 years at the Odessa Clinic.
When not at the bank, she can be found working in the kitchen at Odessa Golf and RV.
“Being chairman of the
Biergarten has proven to be more work than I thought it would be,” Lobe said.
But she doesn’t have to handle the daunting task alone. Megan Schlimmer, who will assume the chairmanship for next year’s Deutschesfest, is her co-chair.
Lobe’s duties include making sure there are enough beverages on hand to accommodate the thousands of thirsty revelers who will attend the event. Lobe ordered 100 kegs of beer and 152 cases of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The biergarten will feature White Claw seltzers and locally handcrafted Rocky Coulee Brewery beer along with wine, champagne and Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
“Deutschesfest is a great tradition,” Lobe said. “It’s a wonderful chance to catch up with friends who come back every year. It also seems to be the only time during the year that I get to eat German food.”
The Biergarten will be located in the Community Center. It will open Thursday, Sept. 14, at approximately 7 p.m., immediately after the completion of the bed race.
Friday and Saturday it will open at 11 a.m. and close at 1 a.m. the following morning.
Sunday it will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“Our Biergarten is a great place to meet people, enjoy your friends and listen to live music,” Lobe said. “I am grateful to be a part of one of Deutschesfest’s most popular activities.”
