Gorilla soccer blows past Reardan

DAVENPORT - It was a barrage of Soliday goals in Davenport Tuesday night as sisters Glenna and Charlotte combined for all five goals in the Gorillas' 5-0 win over the rival Reardan Screaming Eagles Sept. 12.

The win came in Davenport's season-opener, while Reardan dropped to 1-2 after a 2-1 loss to Upper Columbia Academy and a dominant 8-1 victory over Medical Lake last week.

It took eighth-grader Charlotte Soliday 14 minutes to check into high school sports with her first goal. Glenna Soliday joined the party 15 minutes later, then nailed a shot from the far left side in the final moments of the first half to give the Gorillas a 3-0 halftime lead.

Charlotte Soliday scored two more goals in the second half to notch a hat trick in her debut.

"With a win (by) so many points, we know we can make those shots and pass as well as we did," Charlotte Soliday said. "And our defenders are incredible, so it's just all good."

Defensively, Davenport stuck two to five defenders on Reardan star Noelle Raczykowski to help keep the Screaming Eagles scoreless.

Davenport is on the road at Kettle Falls at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, while Reardan travels to Connell the same day for a 6 p.m. matchup.
