JOHNSTON, Edwin A.

Passed away Sept. 24, 2023, at his home following after a short illness. Ed was born on July 24, 1951 in Spokane, Wash. to Arnold and Nadine Johnston. He grew up in Hunters, Wash. and attended Columbia High School graduating in 1969 as class salutatorian. He went on to attend SCC receiving his AA. He then attended EWU graduating Magna cum Laude, receiving his BA in Accounting & Financial, and passing the state CPA exam. He went to work at Rainier Seeds in Davenport as their CFO until his retirement in 2019. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman, making several trips to Alaska and various other states. He was a member of the NRA and the Elk Foundation. He also loved following the financials market. Ed's greatest joy was following his grandchildren in their sports and activities, he was very proud of them. Ed is survived by his wife Shelly; children, James "Colter" Johnston, and Cody Johnston; stepchildren Travis Telecky and Ashley (Terry) Smith; grandchildren, Wyatt Telecky, Chance Smith, Bayne Telecky; brother Wayne (Donna) Johnston; nephew, Michael Johnston. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5,2023 at 11:00 am at the Greenwood Park Cemetery in Hunters, Wash. Memorials may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 5705 Grant Creek Missoula, MT 59808.
