Ex-murderer arrested near Odessa

Man was convicted in 2010

ODESSA — A man who was convicted of second-degree murder in 2010 was arrested near town on a Dept. of Corrections felony escape from community custody warrant Saturday, Oct. 7.

Jereme Joseph Bassett, 38, was arrested by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on Lakeview Ranch Loop Road, which is about five miles north of Odessa town limits off State Highway 21. Bassett’s listed hometown is Yakima, but the Sheriff’s Office believes he is living in Lincoln County.

Bassett was convicted of the 2008 murder of 7-month-old Neveah Miller at the West Wynn Motel on Sunset Boulevard in Spokane in 2010 and sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to news reports.

He remained in Lincoln County Jail at press time.

Bassett was also arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on a Dept. of Corrections warrant Feb. 11, the Sheriff’s Office said.
