Profile questions (please respond in 100 words or less per answer):

Question 1: Do you think the citizens of Odessa would prefer to see population growth or remain a similar size to maintain a small-town feel? How should council help facilitate that position?

In Odessa, we cherish our small-town because it allows us to cultivate meaningful connections with those around us. We understand that preserving this unique atmosphere requires intentional effort from each member of our community. By coming together and actively participating in local events and initiatives, we can ensure that future generations will also experience the joy of growing up in such a warm and welcoming environment.

As proud members of this community, we value the essence that makes Odessa special - its small-town feeling. We recognize the importance of remembering it as we embrace growth responsibly.

Question 2: What is the biggest problem currently facing the town? How could council help resolve that issue?

The increase in drug activity, both in terms of selling and using, has become a significant concern for many community members. It is important to acknowledge that drugs are still illegal, and addressing this issue requires a comprehensive approach.

One of the most effective steps that the council can take is to prioritize the hiring of experienced police officers to patrol our streets. Statistics consistently demonstrate that increased police presence and engagement have a direct correlation with reduced crime rates. Our police should be driving around town throughout the day.

Question 3: Since this question was originally posed before the primary election, have you seen improvement in ordinance enforcement regarding undesirable/junk yards in town limits? How could council continue to or begin to facilitate this process?

This is a difficult issue to tackle. It is essential for residents to understand the council's expectations regarding their living areas. Clear communication channels should be established to ensure that all residents are aware of their responsibilities in keeping their yards clean and presentable. This can be achieved through informative newsletters, community meetings, or even door-to-door campaigns.

Furthermore, leniency towards offenders should be reduced as it may inadvertently encourage non-compliance. By consistently enforcing fines for violations such as posting profanities in windows or allowing excessive clutter on properties, residents will begin to prioritize the upkeep of their living spaces.
