Profile questions (please respond in 100 words or less per answer):
Question 1: What financial or budgetary experience do you have that would assist you as a Commissioner?
I have 30 plus years experience creating, managing and maintaining Budgets starting with Albertsons in 1982. I also Managed monthly Profit and loss statements. I was responsible for maintaining and managing budgets for Edwall Chemical and Aglink. I am currently responsible for Valleywide coop DBA Traders Express As a commissioner I will put the best interest of the taxpayers' dollars into working to keep our community's top priority on a balanced budget without suffering quality of service.
Question 2: Fire stations nationwide are struggling to fill volunteer positions. Do you have any thoughts on how this could be battled in the fire district?
Recruiting and retention of volunteers across the board is challenging. I believe that creating a positive environment for the volunteers to want to join. Networking in our community getting the whole department involved. Interviewing process really getting to know the volunteers' goals really letting them know the time commitment that is involved. The volunteer positions are a critical part of our department it takes a special person who wants to put the time it takes to serve our community. I believe our department really does appreciate all of our volunteers for all the hours they put in with training and responding to calls helping to protect our community.
Question 3: If two fires or other emergencies were to break out simultaneously in the district, how would you help district leadership determine appropriate and priority of response?
As a commissioner I believe in the chain of command. I trust the decision-making process of our:
Fire district chief
Fire and EMS Captains
Fire and EMS officers
Volunteers
I support the decisions that our Chief, Captains and Officers make for the situations that they are put in fast precise decisions are imperative for a successful outcome.
If our officers or volunteers need direction, I would step in and help make decisions based on the facts and needs for each emergency. If needed, we as commissioners will make decisions to secure the safety of the people and property within our district.
