Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
DAVENPORT--Throughout November, Davenport FBLA has been busy in the start of their Community Service Project. Co-chairs Samantha Odenrider, Sawyer Raugust and Beau Copenhaver have connected with School Resource Officer Dain Harden in the education of elementary students regarding life jacket safety. Topics that Harden covered with the elementary students were how to properly wear a life jacket, make sure it fits appropriately and the importance of wearing a life jacket. He also educated the students on life jacket safety on a boat.
There were various activities that the students did to engage in this serious topic.
The project co-chairs had surveyed second through fifth grade students and roughly 12% of elementary families don't own their own life jacket for their student. Many of these students without a lifejacket go to the local pool where they have to borrow one from the facility.
Davenport FBLA will be advertising for a life jacket drive Jan. 8-19.
We are excited to provide these families with lifejackets as well as support the local pool with lifejackets for the individuals who need one.
Thank you to the teachers and students for their participation in Davenport FBLA's Community Service Project.
