Six-year transportation plan approved

Annual plan updated by Public Works

DAVENPORT — Part of the annual budget process at the end of the calendar year in Lincoln County includes the Public Works Department updating the county Six Year Transportation Improvement Program, as required by the state Dept. of Transportation.

The county commissioners approved the updated six-year plan in a meeting with Public Works Director Dave Orvis, Road Operations Manager Dave Sanford and County Engineer Walt Olsen Monday, Dec. 4.

Plans with funding secured include:

• Widening and resurfacing Miles-Creston Road from milepost 0 to 3.01 beginning in 2024. Funded with $1,645,646 in state funds, $986,414 in federal funds and $10,000 in local funds.

• Widening and resurfacing Miles-Creston Road from milepost 3.01 to 4.66 beginning in 2024. Funded with $1,331,628 in state funds and $686,690 in federal funds.

• Re-aligning, widening and asphaltic surfacing Duck Lake Road from milepost 20.3 to 23.3 beginning in 2024. Funded with $2,145,500 in state funds and $246,100 in local funds.

• Replacing Gerald Zellmer Bridge between 2024 and 2026. Funded with $1,087,600 in federal funds.

• Replacing Gieb Bridge between 2024 and 2026. Funded with $1,224,900 in federal funds.

• Rehabilitating Blenz Bridge between 2024 and 2025. Funded with $622,800 in federal funds.

Other proposed projects haven’t secured all the funding necessary but are on Public Works’ list if funding is secured or becomes available. Those projects include:

• Widening, crushing and treating Duck Lake Road from milepost 18.71 to 20.3 beginning in 2025. Proposed funding includes $981,900 in state funds and $109,100 in local funds.

• Paving and enhancing Hawk Creek Road from milepost 9.1 to 10.6 beginning in 2026. Proposed funding includes $1,616,685 in federal funds and $252,315 in local funds.

• Overlaying Monson Road from milepost 0 to 3.04 beginning in 2027. Proposed funding includes $929,875 in federal funds and $145,125 in local funds.

• Overlaying Monson Road from milepost 3.04 to 6.07 beginning in 2029. Proposed funding includes $929,875 in federal funds and $145,125 in local funds.

• Overlaying Hawk Creek Road from milepost 2.09 to 3.5 beginning in 2026. Proposed funding includes $400,000 in federal funds.

• Improving Level Road from milepost 0 to 1.97 beginning in 2026. Proposed funding includes $750,000 in local funds.

• Widening and resurfacing Hanson Harbor Road from milepost 2.01 and 7.73 to 6.43 and 11.41 beginning in 2027. Proposed funding includes $5,780,363 in federal funds and $902,137 in local funds.

• Overlaying Little Falls Road from milepost 0 to 2.47 beginning in 2027. Proposed funding includes $988,000 in federal funds.

• Replacing the concrete structure on Mohler Road and replacing it with two 128-foot span culverts followed by crushed surfacing from milepost 1.2 to 1.24 beginning in 2025. Proposed funding includes $300,600 in state funds and $33,400 in local funds.

• Overlaying Porcupine Bay Road from milepost 0 to 2.89 beginning in 2028. Proposed funding includes $1,156,000 in federal funds.

• Re-aligning, enhancing and resurfacing Riffe Road from milepost 2.79 to 5.81 beginning in 2026. Proposed funding includes $2,257,200 in state funds and $250,800 in local funds.

• Widening and surfacing Mountview Road from milepost 0 to 2.5 beginning in 2026. Proposed funding includes $2,294,100 in state funds and $254,900 in local funds.

• Mitigating rockfall on Porcupine Bay Road from milepost 1.89 to 2.06 beginning in 2026. Proposed funding includes $450,000 in federal funds and $50,000 in local funds.

• Countywide safety enhancements and improvements beginning in 2024. Proposed funding includes $500,000 in federal funds and $25,000 in local funds.

• Countywide preservation and maintenance from 2024 to 2025. Proposed funding includes $1,072,600 in federal funds and $167,400 in local funds.

• Grinding, widening and more improvements on Sprague Highway Road from milepost 9.58 to 15.12 beginning in 2027. Proposed funding includes $5,802,900 in federal funds and $867,100 in local funds.

• Overlaying Waukon Road from milepost 11.04 to 14.08 beginning in 2026. Proposed funding includes $821,750 in federal funds and $128,250 in local funds.

• Resurfacing and enhancing Kiner Road from milepost 2.95 to 8.8 beginning in 2027. Proposed funding includes $1,297,500 in federal funds and $202,500 in local funds.

• Resurfacing and enhancing Kiner Road from milepost 16.59 to 20.29 beginning in 2025. Proposed funding includes $1,297,500 in federal funds and $202,500 in local funds.

• Installing a guardrail on Hawk Creek Road and aligning signs countywide beginning in 2024. Proposed funding includes $348,000 in state funds.

• Countywide intersection improvements beginning in 2024. Proposed funding includes $110,000 in local funds.
