Farm Out Range to host rim-fire shoot

CHENEY – Gun enthusiasts are gearing up for a special event to kick off the new year at Farm Out Range.

Owner Bob Hamilton said the Post-Christmas Rimfire Special will take place at 9 a.m. Dec. 30 at the Farm Out Range, 20437 W. Cordill Lane. The event is open to the public.

The event is a precision rifle series focusing on rim-fire matches.

Hamilton, who typically organizes monthly matches for both rim-fire and center-fire, decided to throw in this special match to cater to those who received new “toys” for Christmas.

Hamilton described the event as a precision rifle series 22 match, featuring 10 challenging stages. Participants will find themselves engaged in a variety of scenarios, with each stage requiring 10 shots in less than 2 minutes.

The thrill of shooting from an assortment of props adds an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

“I think I’m up to on my center-fire firing line, I have 19 props now. It’d be tough to say which one is my favorite,” Hamilton said.

The range boasts an array of props, including tape traps, rooftop setups, big truck tires, bails, buried elements and even a graveyard stage featuring a tombstone and coffin.

This diversity ensures that participants face unique challenges, keeping the competition dynamic and engaging, he said.

“In September, I will have the regional finale there, two-day event, expect around 100 shooters each day,” Hamilton said.

Farm Out Range has gained recognition for attracting top shooters, including Jake Gibbert of Cheney, a participant in numerous Precision Rifle Series national events and Nick Vidarsi of Spokane Valley, another notable competition shooter.
