TONASKET — Carson Kline, Coen Caldwell and Sterling McLaughlin represented the Screaming Eagles at the Apple Pie Invite wrestling tournament Saturday, Jan. 13. Their combined 56 points earned them ninth place in the tournament.
Tonasket, the host school, won the 16-team event, scoring 186 points.
Kline took home top honors in the 138 pound weight class. He pinned Coby Bosler of Oroville in 30 seconds, Abraham Gomez of Manson (0:52) and Keenan Denison of Tonasket (0:57). Kline’s three wins earned him 24 points for the tournament.
Caldwell, wrestling at 144 pounds, went 1-2 in his matches, earning eight points for his team. In his first match, Caldwell pinned Titan Tapia of Jenkins (Chewelah) in 3:38.
He dropped his last two matches to Tyge Plank of Tonasket and Garret Edwards of Cashmere.
McLaughlin placed second in the 190-pound weight class, winning three of four matches.
In his first three matches, McLaughlin pinned Ian Garzon-Lopes of Cashmere (1:28), Stryker Parsons of Okanogan (3:15) and won via decision over Talen Johnson of Cascade.
He lost his last match to Brock Gustaveson of Davenport. McLaughlin scored 20 points for the Screaming Eagles.
On Thursday, Jan. 11, Reardan competed in a NE2B league meet at Northwest Christian.
Coen Caldwell, Sterling McLaughlin and Conner Kline went 2-0 in their matches. Carson Kline won his only match of the day.
Landon Smith, Alex Matusik and Carson Durbin each went 1-1. H.K. Bird lost both of his matches and Danika Bretz lost her only match.
