Davenport mixes and matches in Reardan

Boys and girls compete 13 miles east

REARDAN -Davenport took both its boys and girls wrestlers to its rival school for a mix-and-match league meet Thursday, Jan. 18. And two Harrington boys were part of the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington Bronco team that also competed in Reardan last Thursday night.

Davenport got eight wins and took 11 losses in the 8-school mix-and-match. Host Reardan had the best record at 14-3, while LRSWH was 6-11.

For the Davenport girls, Emma Cash pinned Liberty's Lillie Unruh in 48 seconds and Liberty's Hanna Perkins in 21 seconds.

At 120 pounds, Alexis Ward was pinned by Liberty's Riley Kelly in 1:42 and Colfax's Grace Jones in 44 seconds.

On the boys' side, Brock Gustaveson got two wins in the 190-pound class. Gustaveson defeated Reardan's Sterling McLaughlin 21-9 and pinned Liberty's Coleman Green in 3:16.

In other Davenport wrestling:

At 113 pounds, Landyn Murphy got a bye before getting pinned by Northwest Christian's David Philips in 25 seconds.

At 120 pounds, Wayland Holmberg fell to NWC's Nokoa Rocha 12-6 and was pinned by Reardan's Alex Matusik in 4:46.

At 120 pounds, Noah Everett got a bye before pinning Colfax's Colfax's Cody Philips in 1:27.

Also at 120 pounds, Damon Dolhay was pinned by Cody Philips in 38 seconds before receiving a bye.

At 132 pounds, Brendon Peters-Biggs was pinned by Liberty's Moxon Strobel in 2:34 before pinning LRS's Wyatt Roman in 4:49.

At 165 pounds, Solomon Holmberg was pinned by Liberty's Clae Holling in 48 seconds and NWC's Jaxson Hamilton in 47 seconds.

Also at 165 pounds, Brody Schillinger pinned Hamilton in 3:12 before falling to Holling 10-4.

Two wrestlers from Harrington represented the Broncos.

At 144 pounds, Turner Slack was pinned by Reardan's Coen Caldwell in 30 seconds before receiving a bye.

And at 190 pounds, John Branham was pinned by Reardan's Conner Kline in 10 seconds in his lone match.

Both boys teams will be at the league duals at Almira-Coulee-Hartline at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.

The girls will be at a league meet at Mead at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31.
