Some levies too close to call

DAVENPORT-Proposed replacement levies aimed at raising funds for local schools were passing after the first ballot returns in Davenport, Odessa, Reardan and Harrington Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Some levies were passing comfortably, while others remained too close to call Tuesday night.

The tightest margin is a proposed 3-year replacement Educational Programs and Operations levy in the Reardan-Edwall School District, valued at approximately $2 per $1,000 assessed property value.

Between Lincoln and Spokane Counties, the levy was passing 628-587 Tuesday night, a 51.69% to 48.31% margin.

Most of those in favor were in Lincoln County, where voters were in favor of the levy 300-163. Spokane County voters leaned against the levy 424-328, creating the tightest proposition in the area.

In the Davenport School District, a 4-year replacement EP&O levy valued at approximately $2.30 per $1,000 assessed property value was passing with 365 voters for the levy and 290 against. And a 4-year replacement capital projects levy valued at approximately $1 per $1,000 assessed property value was slightly more favorable to voters with 371 for "yes" and 271 against.

Two replacement levies were passing comfortably in the Odessa School District. A 1-year replacement EP&O levy valued at approximately $1.89 per $1,000 assessed property value was passing 239-102.

Lincoln County voters favored the levy 223-88, while Grant County voters were 5-3 in favor and Adams County voters were split 11-11.

And a 1-year replacement capital projects levy valued at approximately 38 cents per $1,000 assessed property value was passing 246-93. Lincoln County voters favored the levy 231-80, while Grant County voters were 4-2 in favor and Adams County voters were, again, split 11-11.

A 2-year replacement EP&O levy valued at approximately $2.13 per $1,000 assessed property value was also comfortably passing 129-68 in the Harrington School District.
