Ballots mailed for presidential primary

Three on left, five on right

DAVENPORT — As one election ends, another begins. Ballots for the Presidential Primary Election were mailed to Lincoln County voters Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Three Democrats and five Republicans will be on the ballot.

Incumbent President Joe Biden, U.S. Representative Dean Phillips of Minnesota and author Marianne Williamson will be the options on the left, as will “uncommitted delegates.”

Republicans on the ballot include former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Cincinnati-based entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

DeSantis, Christie and Ramaswamy have all announced the suspensions of their campaigns since registering for election with the Secretary of State’s Office.

Presidential Primary ballots will be due by 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12. Voters must pick a party to participate in the primary, with citizens who vote for a Republican required to mark that party declaration on the return envelope and as such with those who vote for a Democrat.

Nine days prior, the Lincoln County Republican Central Committee will hold the County Republican Convention to elect delegates and alternates to the WA State Republican Party Convention in Spokane, held in April.

The County Convention is at the County Courthouse at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 3.
