Betty Sharon Bostwick

Betty Sharon Bostwick

Sept. 24, 1942-Feb. 20, 2024

Sharon Bostwick, age 81, was born to OJ and Betty Bagley in Govan, Wash. where she grew up on the family farm and attended Wilbur Schools. She spent her childhood riding horses and helping on the farm. She was proud of being able to purchase her own horse, which she named Jim, long before she met her husband.

Following graduation, Sharon took a job at Pacific NW Bell as a phone operator until phones became automated and then went to work for Wilbur Grain Growers. Her talent for bookkeeping, memorization, and flying fingers on the 10-key calculator led her to a 40-year career with Central Washington Grain Growers where she thrived on complex mathematics calculating crop divisions and payroll using old school methods long before computers. She rarely made errors and loved the long days in the office working alongside her colleagues during harvest.

Jim and Sharon have been married 60 years and had two children, Terri and Bob. She was a loving and supportive mother who always worked hard to provide opportunities for her children that she never had as a child.

Sharon's strict rules for raising her own children went out the window when her six grandsons were born, as they could do no wrong. Keeping up with her grandsons and their friends was her favorite pastime. She was known as "Grandma Sharon" by all (the kids) and could always be counted on to have a cooler full of snacks and a front row seat to every activity from T-ball to state championships. Grandma Sharon was well known for keeping statics on her yellow notepad at every game, regardless of the sport. She treasured time with her family, whether playing a rowdy game of rummy with her cheating grandsons or celebrating the holidays with her traditions of ornaments, stockings, and an Easter cake.

Sharon loved to camp at the river. The annual family trip to Keller Ferry every Fourth of July started in the 70's and continued for decades. She enjoyed camping with friends and family and always welcomed anyone who showed up. Many happy days were spent playing cribbage and sitting around the campfire.

Sharon is survived by her husband Jim at home, son Bob and wife Sharma and grandsons Blake and Cole Bostwick, daughter Terri and husband Todd King and grandsons Ryan King and wife Kelsey and great granddaughter Dailey, Jared King and wife Charli and great grandson Cooper, Trevor King and fiancé McKenna Mallory, and Marcus King, and step-daughter Patty Albert and husband Guy and grandson Jace and granddaughter Hannah. She is also survived by her sister Doris Shore, brothers Bill Bagley and Glen and Carol Bagley, and many nieces and nephews including her dear niece and friend Rhonda Widmer.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother Mariam Bagley, parents OJ and Betty Bagley, and sister Lydia Widmer.

Sharon will be deeply missed by all who knew of her generosity, thoughtfulness and compassion for others. Memorial service will be held on Friday, Mar. 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Wilbur Community Church. A graveside service will precede memorial. A celebration of life reception will follow the memorial at the Wilbur Community Center for all.

Memorials can be made in Sharon's name to the Wilbur Ambulance Fund, PO Box 218, Wilbur, WA 99185 or the Wilbur Community Swimming Pool Foundation, PO Box 472, Wilbur, WA 99185.
