Janice grew up in the Creston area and attended school in Creston graduating in 1964. As a young lady, Janice fell in love with music and was involved in band, participated in a music ensemble and in her church choir. Every fall you would find her out in the hills, deer hunting with her father.
Janice married Earl Lathrop on June 23, 1965 in Ephrata, Wash.
Janice and Earl spent the next 4 years moving around the country while Earl served in the United State Air Force. They made their home in the Methow Valley in 1973 and stayed there until 2023.
Janice loved being outdoors. Her summers were full of camping, fishing, and gardening. The family campouts and reunions were always a highlight. In the winter Janice would spend her time painting, crafting, playing the organ and watching basketball.

Janice loved games. It was not a family get together without a deck of cards or board games. She also had a special love for basketball. Whether it was watching her son play or her grandchildren, you could always find her cheering for her team.
Janice's home was always open. She and Earl welcomed anyone who needed help. Hungry teens looking for food, family getting back on their feet and the occasional youth group doing a mission trip were welcome.
