County updating zoning regulations

Siting of alt. energy facilities considered

DAVENPORT — Lincoln County is in the process of updating its zoning regulations to include provisions for the siting of alternative energy facilities, including commercial wind and solar facility standards.

But first, a public hearing must be held to hear questions and concerns from the public. And that public hearing is scheduled to take place during the Lincoln County Planning Commission’s meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 28 at the Fairgrounds.

Planner Courtney Thompson said the update is simply a code update to add conditions for alternative energy projects.

The Lincoln County Commissioners have been looking to add county language that enforces repair and reimbursement requirements for any damages done to county roads by companies conducting such projects.

“We’re changing conditions in the code so we don’t have to redo it for each project,” Thompson said.

The Planning Commission consists of chair Sue Lani Madsen, vice chair James Johnson and members Keith Nelson and Margie Hall.

Citizens in favor of the code change and those in opposition will have a chance to speak at the March 28 meeting. The Commission is not expected to make a decision immediately following those comments.

Thompson said a draft of the updated ordinance will be available soon.
