Lincoln County voters prefer Trump

Biden receives more local votes than Haley

DAVENPORT - Most Lincoln County voters would prefer that former president Donald Trump get re-elected for a second term this November. Trump received most of the county votes in the presidential primary election held Tuesday, March 12.

3,229 Lincoln County ballots had been counted by Tuesday night, with 2,633 votes for Republican candidates and 594 votes for Democrat candidates.

Of those 2,633 Republican votes, Trump received 2,169. Four other Republican candidates, who have all suspended their campaigns, received votes.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who suspended her campaign March 6, received 366 votes. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who suspended his campaign Jan. 21, received 59 votes.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who suspended his campaign Jan. 10, received 22 votes and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who suspended his campaign Jan. 15, received 11 votes.

Six Republican write-in votes were tallied.

Incumbent President Joe Biden got most Democratic votes. 507 votes were tallied for Biden.

Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minnesota, who suspended his campaign March 6, received 30 votes. Author Marianne Williamson, who hasn't officially suspended her campaign, received 23 votes.

25 votes went to "uncommitted delegates" and nine write-in Democrat votes were counted.

The county votes reflected the presumptive nominations countrywide. Trump has received 1,241 delegates to become the likely Republican nominee, while Biden has received 2,107 delegates to become the likely Democrat nominee.

A Biden/Trump race would be a rematch of the 2020 presidential election.

Statewide, Biden received the most votes of any candidate with 559,996 counted as of Tuesday night. Trump received 442,048, while Haley was third with 129,394 votes.

No other candidate received more than 20,000 votes statewide.

The 3,229 counted ballots as of Tuesday night reflects a 38.44% voter turnout in Lincoln County. An estimated 210 ballots remain left to count, with the next tally expected by 4 p.m. Thursday, March 14.
