Attorneys presume feds will pick up case
SPRAGUE — The trial of a local man charged with five counts of first-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of second-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct was again continued, this time to May 8.
Jonathan Ray Stocker, 42, of Sprague faces the charges after police allegedly discovered over 100 child pornography-related files on a laptop at his Old Sprague Highway Road residence late last summer.
The trial was most recently continued to April 10 at a readiness hearing in February. At a follow-up readiness hearing Tuesday, March 12, the trial was again continued.
Another readiness hearing was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16.
Attorneys presume the case will be picked up federally, but that decision has not been announced by federal authorities.
If it is tried federally, the case would likely be heard in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. That court is in Spokane under Chief Judge Stanley Bastian.
Stocker was first arrested Sept. 1 and has been held in Lincoln County Jail ever since.
