100 years ago

• Mac Weisner, an escaped inmate of the then-described “eastern Washington hospital for the insane” in Medical Lake, was taken into custody in Odessa by Sheriff F.J. Gilpatric.

• A barn on the George E. Davis farm 14 miles northwest of Davenport was destroyed in a fire.

• Officers and directors of the Lincoln-Adams County Pioneer and Historical association met at the Crab Creek picnic grounds to plan the annual Picnic Program.

75 years ago

• Increasing sociological understanding to keep pace with the shortening of geographical distance was a major problem of the day, Whitworth College dept. head Dr. G.H. Schlauch told 81 guests at the Masonic Temple.

• Robert Anderson of Deep Creek was elected president of the Lincoln Mutual No. 2 co-op. Charles Graber and Virgil Rux of Spring Creek were elected vice president and secretary.

• Employees of the central district of the Interstate Telephone company were guests at the Lincoln Hotel when they met with company officials.

50 years ago

• 12 Davenport businesses and offices participated in a job observation program at Davenport High School.

• Julie Stockman was named FFA chapter sweetheart at the annual Sweetheart Ball.

• Jim Hoffman was appointed the new manager of the Harrington Grange Supply.

25 years ago

• A former Almira chef was acquitted of first-degree arson, shedding accusations he burned down his restaurant 2.5 years prior.

• Robin Shepard was crowned Junior Miss Davenport.

• Two Stockland Union Stockyards in Davenport were consolidated into one auction operation.

10 years ago

• Jill Freeze resigned as Davenport Elementary principal, citing a desire to return to teaching.

• Christian Heritage School staged “Shrek” for its annual spring production.

• Jordyn Tanke was crowned Miss Harrington.
