Grants to fund solar arrays
DAVENPORT — Two Lincoln County farms have received federal funding for renewable energy projects through the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
GMC Joint Ventures dba Rolinco Farm, located south of Harrington, received a $40,000 grant to purchase and install a 22.4 kilowatt solar array.
That project is expected to save $1,998 and 28,548 kilowatt hours per year and generate enough to power 2.66 homes, according to a press release from the Dept. of Agriculture.
And Oestreich Farms JV, located southeast of Harrington, received a $37,500 grant for a 25.9 kilowatt solar array.
That project is expected to save $1,260 and 18,532 kilowatt hours per year, enough to power two homes, the release said.
The projects are two of 18 total around the state that received a total of $2.3 million from the Dept. of Agriculture.
