100 years ago

Former Davenport High School principal H.P. Aldrich was named Reardan superintendent.

The Bluestem grade school won the class B spelling contest. Mohler took second.

Crab Creek pioneers George Flanders and Oscar White were slapped with a $50 fine for possession of liquor.

75 years ago

A four-man committee was appointed to reclassify and adjust assessed values of real estate in Lincoln County. The committee included H.G. Heimbigner and F.W. Heimbigner of Odessa, Ray Schroeder of Wilbur and August Reinbold of Davenport.

A Spokane paving company was awarded a project to oil and surface the 44 miles of state highways in Lincoln County.

Seven members of the Davenport FFA chapter showed calves at the Spokane Junior Livestock Show. The members were Crayton Guhlke, Dale and Jerry Olson, Jack Buck, Mark Reinbold and Deral Boleneus.

50 years ago

Sally Ott was named the year’s Fair Princess, representing Davenport.

A house fire in Harrington temporarily displaced a local family of seven.

The Reardan band, choir and glee club received awards in the Eastern Washington Large Group Contest at Mead High School.

25 years ago

The over 100-year old Warwick Building in Davenport underwent an extensive facelift.

New dormer windows were installed at the old Harrington Opera House building, which was being restored to its historic grandeur.

A proposal to go to a 6-period day for secondary students was shelved by the Reardan-Edwall School Board.

10 years ago

Ryan Coleman was promoted to Lincoln County Sergeant after nine years with the Sheriff’s Office.

Five applicants expressed interest in the Davenport Elementary School principal position after it was vacated by Jill Freeze.

Explosive material was found on the drawdown in Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.
