Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
Truck donated by Cowlitz County
DAVENPORT - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office received a new armored truck it hopes it never has to use, but is available for standoff/shootout scenarios if the need arises.
And the truck itself, a 1994 Ford Chassis, was gifted to the Sheriff's Office by the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office.
All the county had to pay was for the updated decals showing the truck is now the property of Lincoln County, which cost around $700, Sheriff Gabe Gants said.
"The hope is we never need to use it, but if we have an incident involving shots fired, we have it available," Gants said.
In return, the Sheriff's Office gifted its old, less user-friendly armored vehicle to the Stevens County Sheriff's Office. That vehicle was only used here once but was used three times within a week up north, Gants said.
With a bit of training, all deputies will be able to operate the updated armored truck.
