County candidates begin to file

Commissioners to seek re-election

DAVENPORT - The two incumbent Lincoln County Commissioners with expiring terms are both seeking re-election. District No. 1 Commissioner Jo Gilchrist and District No. 2 Commissioner Scott Hutsell both filed for the August primary election during filing week this week.

Gilchrist, of Bluestem, has long planned to file for a 4-year term after being appointed to the seat vacated by Mark Stedman in early 2023.

But Hutsell, of Davenport, had intended as early as last year to retire after his current term expires. Two weeks ago, he officially decided to flip that stance and try for a fifth term.

"There's a lot of things going on that if I was fortunate enough to be re-elected (I'd address)," Hutsell said. "We have Fair issues, and the broadband project...I think I can still offer some value to a few of those things that are going on."

No challengers had filed against Gilchrist or Hutsell by press time Wednesday.

The lone contested county race so far is that of Superior Court Judge, where current Prosecuting Attorney Adam Walser of Ford and private Defense Attorney Victoria Iverson of Odessa both filed.
