100 years ago

Lincoln County Pioneer Sheriff John Level died after a battle with cancer.

Mrs. Rose Landers of Sprague began suit against her husband, J.H. Landers, who had been arrested for allegedly marrying another woman before getting a divorce from Rose.

The Lincoln County game commission placed a bounty of five cents each for offed magpies.

75 years ago

Nearly 300 head of horses were sold at the annual Davenport Auction company event, with auctioneer Bill Hutsell crying from the truck in the center.

Pioneer Sprague stockman Robert Potts died at age 84.

The Reardan Rebekahs voted to enter a float in the Community Day parade and appointed Ruby Rogers, Mrs. William Colville, Mrs. Adam Even and Mrs. Herman Wagner to the committee.

50 years ago

Davenport’s community float made its first official appearance, graced by the personages of Queen Celia Reinbold and princesses Suzie Meyer and Julie Janett.

The Harrington Float made its debut with a parade, featuring Miss Harrington Yvonne Heimbigner and princesses Sandy Bell, Laurie Scott and Kathy Wilcox.

The regular session of the Reardan School Board drew 70 parents and concerned citizens primarily concerned about housing all future classes in Reardan rather than busing any students to Edwall.

25 years ago

Davenport’s full-time police officer resigned for undisclosed reasons before completing her 18-month probationary period.

Rises in school violence around the United States caused some Lincoln County families to begin homeschooling their children.

Harrington sophomore Tashanna Kramer won grand champion in fitting and showing at the St. John Community Fair.

10 years ago

Plans to sell five lots between State Highway 25 and the city’s sports complex to an investor group headed by Steve and Scott Halme were put on indefinite hold by the Davenport City Council.

Daniel R. Abell of Davenport was jailed on sex abuse charges involving family members and placed on leave from his job as a bus driver for the School District.

Scott Schulz of Reardan received his Eagle Scout Award during a ceremony at the Town Park.
