Youth Soccer holds tournament

Over 400 children compete

HARRINGTON - The Lincoln County Youth Soccer league, which is in its second season, held its annual tournament while the local Car Show was ongoing Saturday, May 18.

Odessa was well represented amongst the victors. The future Tigers beat Davenport 1-0 in the 2nd/3rd grade championship, beat Ritzville in penalty kicks in the 4th/5th grade championship and smoked Davenport 11-0 in the 6th-8th grade championship.

Ritzville topped Reardan 3-2 in the kindergarten/1st grade championship.

Odessa had three championships and one third place finish total. Reardan had one second place and one third place, while Davenport had two second place and two third places finishes.

Ritzville had one championship and one second place finish.

Gavin Scrupps, Hank Walter and Harvin Ryan of Odessa were named MVP of their respective age groups, while Paxton Arlt of Ritzville was kindergarten/1st grade MVP.

Participation was vast in youth soccer this year. 38 teams and approximately 400 children participated, including 11 teams from Davenport, seven each from Reardan and Ritzville, six from Odessa, five from Harrington and two from Wilbur.

There were 14 kindergarten/1st grade teams, 10 2nd/3rd grade teams, nine 4th/5th grade teams and five 6th-8th grade teams. Games were played at the Harrington School.
