100 years ago

The finals in the old-timers tennis tournament at Odessa featured Jake Hopp Jr. of Odessa defeating Joe Weik of Davenport in men’s singles, Mr. and Mrs. Hopp defeating Mrs. Earl Phillips and Jim Goodwin of Davenport in mixed doubles and Hopp and Dan Heimbigner defeating Weik and Goodwin in men’s doubles.

Three accidents occurred within a few hours of each other on Sunset Highway between Davenport and Wilbur. One driver fell asleep at the wheel, one hit a rock and one crashed into a horse.

75 years ago

Lincoln County Fire District No. 6 was formed with 16 volunteers, including directors A.H. Teel, Otto Timm and F.J. Rieth and secretary C.F. Gilbert.

33 Davenport High School seniors were recognized at graduation.

50 years ago

Harrington High School elected ASB officers, including president Mel Fries, vice president Laurie Scott, secretary Kathy Wilcox, social chairman Kelly Sewall, advertising manager Kathy Sewall, treasurer Shelley Meyer and assistant treasurer Kim Kruger.

35 graduates were recognized at baccalaureate services in Reardan.

25 years ago

The Reardan Riots 4-H club revamped the entrance signs off Highway 2 in town.

An extended lake drawdown led to severely limited boat access on Lake Roosevelt projected for Memorial Day weekend.

10 years ago

Courtney Strozyk was selected to replace Jill Freeze as Davenport Elementary School principal.

Seven Christian Heritage graduates were recognized at commencement, including Molly Clemenson, Ray Gao, Nina Klein, Oscar Reviejo, Levi Ricketts, Sabrina Stone and Michaela Yoder.
