ODESSA - Residents at Quail Court, the local assisted living facility run by the Memorial Healthcare Center, are finally moving back in after being away from home for four months following a January flood. That fact was celebrated with a grand re-opening hosted by the Memorial Healthcare Center Thursday, May 23.
Quail Court manager Leslie Gies cut the red ribbon at last Thursday's ceremony that was attended by 60 to 70 people.
Healthcare Center CEO Brett Antczak expressed his thanks to the community and those responsible for a relatively quick repair turnaround.
Quail Court residents were forced to evacuate to Moses Lake after a pipe burst in January, causing flooding. 12 citizens are now able to move back in, including 10 who spent the last four months 45 minutes west of town.
Sen. Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville, and Rep. Joe Schmick, R-Colfax, gave brief remarks and lauded the Healthcare Center for completing the repairs and renovations in "record time."
Renovations included new carpeting, paint, lighting, kitchen, flooring and furniture.
After dignitaries offered their remarks, attendees enjoyed a complimentary dinner that included burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, sausages, cold salads and fruit.
