100 years ago

Over 5,000 people gathered for the Pioneer Picnic on Crab Creek. The picnic was meant to be “a place to meet the old friends.”

C.D. Mansfield was elected to Davenport city council after R.E. Anderson resigned.

17 head of cattle disappeared from the Matt Wagner ranch near Creston and were suspected to have been illegally ferried across Lake Roosevelt.

75 years ago

KHQ farm editor Glen Lorang gave August Reinbold a box of cereal with the hope that it would make him a champion in the community day tug-of-war.

A blaze completely destroyed the Birge-Swenson Implement company and the Harrington Drug company in Harrington.

The fifth annual Reardan Community Day celebration brought more than 1,000 people from the surrounding community, with the parade containing 165 entries.

50 years ago

Davenport Times editor Marcus Blegen embarked and reported on a journey through Denmark and Norway. 50 years later, current Managing Editor Drew Lawson was met with blank stares when proposing a similar venture for himself.

The Edwall United Methodist Church held its ice cream social, serving around 65 people to raise $100. The money was used to send younger members to camp Twin-Lo.

Reardan correspondent Diana Waseca bid farewell to the newspaper and community after moving to Spokane.

25 years ago

36 Davenport High School seniors were recognized at commencement. An extra diploma was specially prepared for Katie Jo Wagner, who died during the class’s sophomore year.

16 Harrington High School seniors capped off their high school careers with graduation.

Members of the Odessa Union Warehouse Co-op and Odessa Trading Company prepared to vote on a proposed resolution to merge the two firms.

Members of the Sprague community grieved after 22-year-old Justin Clouse, a 2010 Sprague High School graduate, was killed in a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan.

39 diplomas were distributed to Davenport High School graduates, including co-valedictorians McKayla Holliday and Max Mielke.

Reardan celebrated 110 years of Mule Days with a parade that included Miss Reardan-Edwall Mackenzie Pratt and princesses Shilah Kane and Harmony Acuff.
