Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Movie subjects join Museum screening

Dreamin' Wild based on Fruitland brothers

DAVENPORT - Last Sunday, June 2, the public was invited to be guests of the Lincoln County Museum to a screening of the movie Dreamin' Wild at the Davenport High School Auditorium.

Dreamin' Wild follows the journey of Fruitland, musician brothers Donnie and Joe Emerson, who recorded an album in the late 70s that was rediscovered after 30 years and rated as a lost masterpiece.

This movie was originally released in the United States Aug. 4, 2023.

After viewing the well-received movie, members of the audience were treated to a question-and-answer session of Emerson family members.

Family members in attendance were parents Don and Salina, brothers Donnie and Joe, sister Maria and Donnie's son Chance. Two siblings Rose and David were unable to attend.

The family shared their experiences of the movie-making process and what it was like seeing their lives on the big screen.

Finishing up the evening was a mini-concert by several members of the Emerson family. Original music by Salina, Joe, Donnie and Chance (his first public performance) was heartfelt and brought the audience to their feet.

Through the movie and concert the values of faith, family, sacrifice and the importance of following dreams were conveyed.

The Lincoln County Museum board said it's grateful to the Emerson family for their insistence that monies collected at the door were donated to the museum to help replace the 50-year-old heating/cooling system.

Dreamin' Wild is currently streaming for a fee on Hulu, Apple TV, YouTube, and Prime Video. Merchandise is available at the museum which is open noon-4 p.m. every day except Monday.
