REARDAN - The third annual Reardan Slam Basketball Tournament, which features varsity and junior varsity high school girls teams, returns this weekend Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16.
The round robin style tournament imagineered by girls basketball head coach Bob Swannack, who will enter his fourth year at the helm next school year, will have games played in halves with 20-minute running clocks.
The click will stop in the last two minutes of the game, unless one team leads another by 20 points or more.
On the varsity side, Northeast 2B league teams that are expected to compete include Reardan, Davenport, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague, Kettle Falls, Freeman, Liberty and St. George's.
Also on the docket are Medical Lake, Colville, West Valley, Connell, Thompson Falls, Kellogg, Pateros, Northport and Priest River.
Tournament play begins at noon Friday, June 14 with Reardan taking on Priest River. That will be followed by Davenport against Kettle Falls.
Reardan is also scheduled to play Colville at 3 p.m. Friday and Liberty at 1 p.m. Saturday. Other matchups are dependent on outcomes.
Davenport is also scheduled to play Thompson Falls at 8 a.m. Saturday and new league rival Freeman at noon Saturday.
Games run until 10 p.m. Friday and begin again at 8 a.m. Saturday, running through 10 p.m.
The varsity semifinals begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 16. The championship game begins at 6:30 p.m.
Junior varsity semifinals are at 1 p.m. and the championship at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Games are played at Reardan High School, with action split between the main gym and adjoining Gene Smith Gym.
