State reports Keller ferry scam

WILBUR — Thinking about a ferry ride from Lincoln County north to Keller?

Well, don’t provide payment to any texts or emails claiming to be from the state Department of Transportation asking for money.

According to the Transportation officials, Keller ferry customers have been receiving scam messages asking if them to click on a payment link.

“This is a scam, as we do not charge for the use of the Keller ferry,” agency spokesman Ryan Overton said Tuesday.

The scam is being linked to a similar scam in Western Washington, where commuters often use “Got to Go” passes for tolling.

“The best course of action is to report the message as spam,” Overton said.
