Preliminary election results reported

DAVENPORT— With all 46 precincts reporting, Lincoln County has released preliminary results of the Tuesday, Aug. 6, primary election.

As of 8:10 p.m., 2,202 ballots had been counted in the primary election. There are 8,416 registered voters in the county, reflecting a 26.16% voter turnout.

An estimated 1,043 ballots remain to be counted, with the next update scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.

The lone candidate Jo M. Gilchrist received 525 votes in the race for County Commissioner District No. 1.

In the race for County Commissioner District No. 2, unchallenged Scott M. Hutsell received 472 votes.

In local measures, Proposition No. 1 for the town of Odessa has been approved by 103 votes, or 58.86%, and rejected by 72 votes, or 41.14%.

This measure increases the property tax levy rate to fund the Odessa Police Department and law enforcement services starting in 2025. Fire District No. 5 Proposition No. 1 has been approved by 325 votes, or 72.22%, which will establish a levy rate of $1.00 per $1,000 of assessed value to support fire protection and emergency medical services.

Fire District No. 8 Proposition No. 1 has been approved by 17 votes, or 89.47%. It sets a levy rate of $1.25 per $1,000 of assessed value with a 5% annual growth factor.

Late-arriving ballots will be counted in the coming days and the official results will be certified on Aug. 20.
