Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
ODESSA — Mark the calendar for the 53rd Annual Deutschesfest, scheduled from September 19 to 22.
With just a month to go, the town of Odessa is gearing up for one of its most celebrated traditions, which draws thousands of visitors each year.
Deutschesfest offers a wide array of attractions for all ages, including authentic German food, a massive biergarten spanning an entire city block, live music, a parade, a kids’ zone, street vendors and even helicopter rides.
The festival, rooted in the heritage of the German-Russians who settled in Odessa in the early 20th century, is a vibrant display of the town’s rich cultural traditions.
The event is organized by local descendants of those original settlers, who have passed down their love of good food, drink, music and dancing through the generations.
Their dedication to preserving and celebrating this heritage ensures that each year’s festival is filled with the hometown pride that makes Deutschesfest truly unique.
Last year, festival-goers enjoyed a pancake breakfast, live music, street vendors, and even an ugly beard contest, among other activities.
Many of these popular events are expected to return this year, with more details and updates to be published in the Lincoln County Record-Times as the event approaches.
So, gather the family, don the lederhosen and dirndls, and get ready for a weekend of fun at Deutschesfest.
