PORCUPINE BAY — The National Weather Service has proposed raising its fees for camping, launching boats and other services at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.
Ahead of a final decision, the agency will accept public comment through Sept. 26.
According to the National Park Service the last time boat launch fees were raised was in 2015. Camping fees were last increased in 2021.
Agency officials said the fee rates are now “substantially” lower than the local market.
The agency wants to raise camping fees $7 per night at Spring Canyon, Fort Spokane, Porcupine Bay, Hunters, Kettle Falls and Evans year round.
Group campsite fees would also increase.
Meanwhile, the boat launch fee would increase 25% to $10 for a week pass. The annual fee would jump 33% to $60.
The agency also wants to add a $10 per use dump fee for grey and black water tanks in RVs and campers.
