Deputy placed on administrative leave

Incident followed high-speed chase

DAVENPORT — A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been placed on administrative leave following an investigation into a high-speed pursuit and crash.

The deputy’s name has yet to be released by the Sheriff’s Office or the Washington State Patrol, which is investigating the incident.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was among law enforcement officers involved in a Sept. 4 pursuit of a vehicle with two women that began in the Coulee Dam area.

The pursuit continued through Grand Coulee and onto state Highway 174 at high rate of speed, the office reported. The women in the vehicle failed to stop for officers there and the chase continued into Lincoln County.

The driver, suspected of drunken driving, failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into an embankment, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

During the arrest process, an unattended patrol vehicle rolled and struck one of the women, reports show.

Both of the women were transported to a hospital for evaluation of possible injuries.

As of press time, the names of the women and any related charges had yet to be released.

With a Lincoln County deputy and vehicle involved, the state patrol was requested to investigate the incident.

On Monday, Sept. 16, the deputy was placed on administrative leave.
