DEEP CREEK — A motorcyclist from Ford was killed late Tuesday night after hitting a vehicle turning from U.S. Highway 2 onto Brooks Road.
At press time, the Washington State Patrol was withholding the 21-year-old motorcyclist’s name until his family can be notified.
According to the patrol, the motorcyclist was eastbouund on a Yamaha YZFR6 on U.S. Highway 2 at about 11:31 p.m. when he struck a westbound vehicle making a left hand turn onto Brooks Road.
That vehicle, a 2006 Ford Expedition, was driven by Kayleigh J. Roop, 18, of St. Maries, Idaho, the patrol said.
The Yamaha came to rest blocking the westbound lanes of the highway, the patrol said. The Expedition stopped in the eastbound lanes, blocking the highway and Brooks Road.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene; Roop was not injured.
The patrol has yet to determine if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The cause of the crash was listed as speed, the patrol said, noting Roop is not facing any charges.
