Gorilla boys runners take fifth at league meet

Wynecoop finishes fourth in girls race

CHEWELAH — The Davenport boys finished fifth as a team in a Northeast 1B/2B league meet at 49 Degrees Mountain Resort.

The Gorilla boys had 136 team points; Jenkins (Chewelah) won with a team low score of 32, followed by Valley Christian with 75, Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame with 91 and Northwest Christian Colbert with 121.

Davenport’s fastest runners finished 27th, 28th, 29th and 31st in the 5,000-meter race.

Senior Tommy Furman was 27th with a time of 21:50.90, followed by junior Kyler Davenport with a time of 21:51.00 and sophomore Jackson Guhlke, also with a time of 21:51.00.

Sophomore Kolby Kemmerer was 31st in a time of 22:03.10.

The only other Gorilla in the Top 50 was freshman Alex Wesselius, who finished 46th with a time of 22:52.80.

Davenport didn’t’ have enough girls for a team score, but that didn’t stop junior Josie Wynecoop from posting the best finish.

She finished 4th overall in a time of 23:05.80.

Gorilla teammate senior Alyssa Kruger was 40th with a time of 33:33.60.
