A matron from a Yakima detention home came to get Rose Gardner and Lucille Hall. The girls escaped from the home several weeks ago and were arrested in Reardan for vagrancy and sentenced to 10 days in jail.
The local sheriff’s office recovered a Ford coupe that had been stolen from Wenatchee. The car was abandoned here last week alongside the Tribune apartments. When the owner came for his car he was pleased to find in had not been damaged.
Governor Hart has proclaimed October 13 a legal holiday because Columbus Day October 12, which is a legal holiday, falls on a Sunday this year. The banks and post office will probably be the only business houses in Odessa that will observe this holiday.

A private funeral was held at Strate Funeral home for Henry Loken whose body was found alongside the Great Northern Tracks near Marlin. Loke’s death was determined to be caused by a fall from a train.
Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Pyles have purchased the former Williams building on First Avenue and the Moderne Beauty Shoppe will be located there. The family will make their home in the living quarters in the building.
Davenport School Board went on record at their recent meeting as favoring and encouraging staff to purchase all supplies and equipment local if quality, price and delivery are comparable to non-local merchants.

The department of Fish and Wildlife has announced the hiring of Riley O’Bryant. He will be available to county residents as a coyote trapper. Any citizen in Lincoln County having animal damage problems should contact Riley.
Davenport Police Chief Frank Foley gave the city council his resignation at a recent meeting. Foley who has been with the city for 9 months has accepted a position in Connell.
Reardan’s FFA is sending 7 members to compete at the National Convention in Kansas City. Delegates are Robert Boleneus, Ray Batt, Tom Zwainz and Roger Wagner. Rod Clouse and Kevin Kintschi are members of the state meat judging team and Gary Schultz is a state officer.

A strawboard fabrication plant for Odessa appeared closer to reality with a report that Northwest Strawboard which has proposed to build and operate the facility, has been reorganized and is eyeing Odessa as the site of its pilot plant.
Only five months after Stockland Union Stockyards made their widely publicized move from Spokane to Davenport business is running smoothly. And according to owner John Kerst business has actually picked up.
Reardan’s Emergency services personnel will again hold an all you can eat hunters breakfast. This event starts at midnight and runs through Noon on opening day. Proceeds from this event help emergency personnel to purchase items needed by their departments.

Generous hearts made the 20th annual Sharing Hearts luncheon at Davenport’s Memorial Hall a success. Women from throughout Lincoln County attended and donated more than $22,000 to the designated project, endowment fund and nursing scholarship.
Marlon Schafer former Odessa Chamber president was invited to speak at the Inland Northwest Partners, a non-profit organization of more than 300 members. Schafer shared about the culinary tourism part of Deutschesfest and the advantages of the homemade fare.
National4-H week was the perfect opportunity for the Lincoln County 4-H leaders council to announce the recipient of this year’s Lincoln County Leader of the year: Joy Wilken of Sprague. Joy has been a 4-H volunteer for 21 years.
