Maxine Mae Roth

Mar. 8, 1935- May 15, 2024

Maxine Mae Roth, born on Mar. 8, 1935, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, at 89 in Oregon City, Oregon. Maxine lived a life full of warmth, compassion, and steadfast faith.

She is survived by her dear sister, Theresa Groves; her loving children, Karen Harper, Kristine Trammell, Mark Roth, and Rebecca Rice; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Rudolf and Dora Scharff, her sister Margaret Unruh, her brother George Scharff, and her devoted husband, Tom Roth.

Maxine fondly remembered her childhood growing up on the Scharff family farm in Davenport, Wash. She was a proud graduate of Davenport High School and continued her education at Whitworth University, both located in Washington State. She was known for her warm smile and encouraging nature. Her kindness was not only a testament to her character but also an example to those around her.

Maxine believed her greatest achievement was being a stay-at-home mother to raise her four children. She instilled in them respect and consideration for others. She enjoyed making quilts and created a special quilt for each of her grandchildren. A woman of faith, Maxine devoutly studied the Bible and prayed for her children and grandchildren to share her faith in Jesus.

Maxine’s absence will be deeply felt by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. To honor her memory, a service at the graveside is scheduled for Oct.19, 2024, commencing at 2:00 p.m., located at Mt View Cemetery Rd, Davenport, Wash. Following the burial, a memorial service and a reception will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Davenport, 904 Morgan Street. We invite you to join us in celebrating her life and sharing your memories of Maxine. STRATE FUNERAL HOME, Davenport, WA is caring for the family.
